Congratulations Dee!
OHI Annual Awards of Excellence at the OHCE
On Tuesday November 5th at the Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo (OHCE), OHI, the national association for the outdoor hospitality industry announced the winners of its annual Awards of Excellence recognizing the “best of the best” in the Outdoor Hospitality Industry. The nominations for these awards are peer-reviewed and voted on by the members.
The State Leadership Award Winner was our good friend Dee Witting, Executive Director of the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CARVC). That is her, 2nd from the left in the photo above.
The award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their professional growth and contributed significant time and talent to their association and OHI.
A well deserved award
Dee has been the Executive Director of CARVC since 2016 after owning a park in Murphy North Carolina for 8 years. She understands the needs of park owners because she has walked in their shoes.
She has been instrumental in promoting camping in the Carolinas, growing membership in the association, providing opportunities for education and personal development for park owners, and in legislative advocacy and government relations for CARVC member parks and the industry as a whole. Especially important recently has been her work aiding parks impacted by natural disasters including Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas and helping to minimize the economic impact by connecting parks to the resources available to them.
I don’t think Dee knew this award was coming. Her first words upon being named as winner was “I had no idea I was going to be receiving this award; I was so surprised!” In typically humble Dee style she went on to recognize her team first. “I am just very honored to be recognized for the work I’ve done to help CARVC move forward, but it takes a team. I couldn’t do it without our loyal members and incredibly dedicated and active board of directors.”
The Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CARVC) is a trade association whose members own and/or operate campgrounds and RV parks in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina. The mission of CARVC is to promote the growth, prosperity, improvement, and profitability of its members’ businesses and of the outdoor hospitality industry as a whole and Dee has moved the association and the industry forward with her efforts. CARVC now boasts active memberships of 142 RV parks and campgrounds and over 70 industry suppliers.
